Become a Virtual Birdwatcher

Rye Harbour Nature Reserve is on the coast of East Sussex and is a great place to see a range of special wildlife. We have 200,000 visitors a year, but for those of you who can't be here today there is this web cam. It is sited on an island where Black-headed Gull and Common Tern nest from April to July. It is also a good place to find a variety of wading birds such as Dunlin, Redshank, Turnstone, Grey Plover, Ringed Plover and Whimbrel. The view is controlled from Lime Kiln Cottage by our visitors and volunteers, so you will be watching what they are watching - you will be a Virtual Birdwatcher. Outside of the breeding season there is greater activity of birds here at high water and at dawn and dusk.
