Nice to hear from you Val, you sound very busy. Hope you take a break soon, we visited Dornoch when we stayed on the Black Isle a few years ago, beautiful castle there.
We have regular sightings of big black cats in this area too, a gentleman claims he saw one in the school playing fields just over the road from our house, but we have never seen anything. There say they are black panthers, I do believe they could live in the countryside.
Aurora season has started, Mr Farmer did you ever do anything about finding a site in Norway or Sweden for a camera, you mentioned it a while ago, only thats where they are tonight, beautiful green skies over Jokkmokk.

Jan (Herts) Yes I am ok, I have just been busy trying to catch up with things in the garden. I live high up above Perth and we suffer from high winds, a section of my fence blew down and it has to be replaced so I am trying to prune the trees (neighbours) that are pushing through the old fence, before my son puts up the new one. I am also starting to clear out some of my tubs that are past their best now, and on top of all that I have just finished clearing out the moss between the joints on the monoblock driveway.I have to agree with some of the ladies on the forum who say all this hard work is not as easy as it used to be when we were younger. I too miss Robin on the forum and I do hope he is well.I see all the posts about the Pine Marten but as yet havnt been lucky enough to see it. There is an article in the paper today about a large black cat near Dornoch which those who have seen it think it looks like a panther. We have spent a few holidays in Dornoch in a caravan and it is a lovely area but I think people are very wary of going out as the police have said that it is getting nearer to the town centre. I will say goodnight now and hope everyone is well. Val Perth

It has been a lovely day here even though the wind has been blowing a bit. Thought it was pouring down at denbury this morning when I looked in. Well it is back to work tomorrow after 6 weeks off lol. Really want to stay at home!!
Glad I am not the only one who misses Robin, the last time I spoke to Elsie about him she thought that he must be ill as he hadn't replied to her emails. I think she must be poorly as well I know she ws in a lot of pain last week I think it was I spoke to her. She did say that getting up stairs was getting to be a problem for her. Sorry Elsie! Well better go and have a look around the cams before I go and get sorted for tomorrow.Elaine

Morning, as usual, I missed the Pine Marten, but will probably catch it soon as it seems to be coming to the feeders more often now. I think it was Wendy, who mentioned ladybirds recently, since your post I have noticed so many, they are everywhere, shame they were'nt about earlier in the year when we had a greenfly 'explosion' the air was thick with them. Val, are you Ok, not noticed you post recently, I also miss Robin, I love his humour, hope its just his computer, thats not working.

Elaine I saw the pine marten too this evening - I'd just switched cams from SWT1 to SWT2 and there he was busy with his head inside the squirrel box feeder! He stayed about 15 mins I think and then something must have distracted him as he hopped off to the right of the cam. I've been popping in and out since but no luck - maybe he's had his supper now and will return in the morning for breakfast!
Betty I loved your story about the hummingbird - quite a performance she put on for you! We don't get them here but I've seen them on film and they look such beautiful little birds - a joy to watch close up I'm sure.
I've been wondering about Robin too - it seems like too long a time for it to be his computer playing up - I do hope he's ok - as I recall he didn't enjoy very good health. He was great fun on here with his banter with the ladies - I hope if you are watching Robin that you come back and say hello again soon!....Jill(E)

Karen:Glad I'm not the
only one to miss Robin, I do hope in vain that one day he will post. When I first found this site and shared it with Sue we considered Elsie and Robin as the mother and father of the site!xxLove you bothxx
Sorry I didn't sign my name re:pine marten posting didn't want you all to miss it! It stayed for at least 15mins, such a sight I remember the first time Sue and I saw one. Betty and Lorna thank you for your birthday greetings I never mind if they are late, I am used to my birthday lasting a week!!!lol Elaine

Thanks Karen Stoke. We both kept taking it in turns with the binoculars to get a good view. Things like that make life all worth while. Hope you found some fun at the park, much more exciting than chores. they will still be there when we aren't. Betty Canada

Belated Happy Birthday to Elaine. Although I have only recently written in the forum, I used to avidly read it every day, for over a year, and I so know how you are all feeling about Robin. I always waited for a rejoinder from him to the e-mails from you. I do hope that he is well and will start replying again soon.
Betty, Canada, what a lovely description you gave of that beautiful humming bird in your garden.
We are all so lucky to have wildlife to watch, common, rare or exotic, where ever we live in this world. Lorna from Devon

Betty, Canada your post about the ruby throated hummingbird was lovely. You described it beautifully, i was there with you watching it, isn't nature just wonderful. Well its cooler here today, i should be doing chores, but they have something going on down the local park so i am taking the dogs for a stroll i think. Karen Stoke

Belated Happy Birthday Elaine. Lovely and cool here today, all the windows open.

Saw a lovely sight yesterday. It had just started to rain a little when the female ruby throated hummingbird landed on the feeder. There is a little perch that runs around the outside that she sits on. She drank for about 5 mins sitting down (which is really unusual). She then flew off into the middle of the garden onto a dying bit of our climbing rose. She proceeded to shake her tail and fluff her wings like a blackbird taking a bath. The rain was coming down a little heavier and she loved it. She kept also lifting her head backwards so the water ran down her face. The flapping of the wings and tail continued for about 10 mins then she gave herself a couple of good shakes to get her feathers back in position then flew off. We were in awe as we have never seen anything like it before. Betty Canada

Sue n.notts thats great - I know Hunstanton very well as my parents lived at Heacham (opposite the Lavender Fields) until we brought them down to Kent to the retirement home. "Hunny" is a nice seaside town - a bit commercialized at one end, but the other end with the multi coloured cliffs is nice and there are some lovely unspoilt beaches all along that north Norfolk coast so you will have a wonderful time I know! RSPB Titchwell is along there and has some great hide views and walks, and watch for the hundreds of geese going over each morning and evening as they feed on the low tide and then come home to the fields in the evening. Big Skies and fabulous sunsets too - you lucky things!! Enjoy it all!...Jill(E)
