After seeing those GORGEOUS photos on the gallery tonight, I keyed in Tanja Askani (the photographer). She has taken some beautiful pictures of animals being affectionate towards each other. Incredible!!
Counting down to midnight on TV now. Counting down to Baby Giraffe on WildlifeTV. Oh, it's all happening this New Year's Eve!!
Stay safe and have good fun.

Looks very much like to me that there will be a baby giraffe born tonight. She has her head turned right round to her tail end and she is panting, plus she has been restless during the day, walking round and round in the pen. Elsie

I often worry that Janette is being kept warm enough as I am sure it is colder there than here.

I'm wishing everyone on the Forum, farm and behind all of the cams...and in front of them a very Happy, Healthy and Prosperous New Year.
The diary and photos are just wonderful. I love seeing the quaint pictures.None of that here in the States so it's a real treat. Also, as Mr. farmer stated, our sparrows use the nesting boxes for shelter in the winter weather.I see them going in and out.:-)Nice and warm and cozy so we leave the old nests in there for winter.
You are all so good at identifying the birds. I'm learning a lot by looking them up.:-) We don't get too many different ones at our feeders, especially in the winter. We have been getting a hawk flying overhead fairly often now. He must be hungry. All of the sparrows go silent. It doesn't seem to bother the squirrels at all.
Mr. Farmer needs more hawks and owls to feed on the rats.
Thank you for remembering the troops in your good wishes.Having a son in the Military and away puts that foremost in our minds all the time. We were happy to get a short note from him on the computer this morning. They found a steel building to sleep in last night but no heat and it was 40 degrees F. He was happy that they were issued sleeping bags. In a few months it will get up to 130 F.!!!
I received an e-mail from a long lost friend in Connecticut asking if I wanted to join an animal rescue train. They take dogs and cats that are in shelters that euthanize animals to no kill shelters up along the East coast.Everyone takes a short leg of the journey and drives them in cars to their destination where they will find homes.I think I will join in that. They need folks in Maryland and New Jersey. It sounds like a wonderful cause.
Have to take a quick peek at the cams and then get ready to go to my daughter's for a few days. Can't for get the gifts so they are on the kitchen table!
Great advice about the corks and ping pong balls for the animals water, since my husband brought the balls home last month for the cats to play with. Now I have another use for them. Elsa and Hannah weren't that interested! :-)
Keep well and warm all. Back in a few days.
God Bless. Marie/NJ

A very Happy New Year to all on the forum. May you have good health and happiness and also I will be thinking of all our service men who ae currently serving in very dangerous places, may God look after them.

Janet I can hardly believe my eyes this morning both the starlings and sparrows have been bathing like mad even though there is ice in it, having a hard job keeping it defrosted this morning as it is just so cold hear. It is true what you say though the birds need it just as much in the winter. I read a tip yesterday and that was to put corks or ping pong balls in and that will stop it freezing over completely. Have to make sure we crack open a couple of bottles of wine tonight so I can put the corks in. Take care everyone especially if you are travelling. Margaret - Poole

Another freezing cold morning. Extra feed for birds today as we are off to Anglesey for the New Year. Poor Jannete looks ressless this morning she is going round in circles. She will probably have her baby while I am away. I wish everyone on the forum a Happy and healthy New Year. Also to Mr and Mrs Farmer and everyone at Denbury a Happy and Healthy New year. Thank you so much for what you bring to us.

What a horrible cold morning it is. Harold came back early from his walk with Max as it was so cold, freezing fog is making it worse. I loved your diary last night Mr Farmer about your Robin and Blackbird. how lovely to have them visit your home. I was amazed at the size of the rats on the cam last night. doesn't the cold weather kill them off. Mind you they are being well fed taking the Badger food. See there is a grey squirrel on the SWT 1 Cam this morning. The Santa cam is still very busy. Robin have you got yoyr new computer set up yet?. Mine isn't as I am still waiting until Jack has time to come back down. Elsie
