Hi Maddi, welcome to the forum again and I for one will be looking forward to seeing your photos. How lovely that you live in Northumberland. it is beautiful up there. I lived for 53 yrs in the County next to yours, Durham, and now I am in Yorkshire. We go to St Mary's Island Caravan Site every year just outside of Whitley Bay and I love it. I saw my first Grey Seal there, it was on the rocks with its baby. I stood a long time watching them. Liked the tale about the Salt and Vinegar Karen and of you and your friend taking off on your bikes. I say Robin, that is a kind invitation for you from Maddi, you can call at Yorkshire on your way up and do my work as well!!. Go easy with the drink tonight Mr and Mrs Farmer, don't want you falling in the Horse " muck " in the morning and a Happy New Year to you both. Elsie

Hi everyone, my name is Maddi and I live in a small village near Hexham, Northumberland. I have been watching the webcams for some time now, missing both Bliss and Willows births by 1/2 hour, so I am hoping for a daytime birth this time, though I'm not holding my breath. My first message on the forum was, "facinating and addictive, housework abandoned" so you can imagine the state my cottage is in now!! I wonder Robin could you pop over and do some vacuuming and ironing for me, windows could do with a clean too, I know with you being a man you will do a good job, if not perfect. My friend Carrie in Canada sometimes sends me photo's, I have forwarded some to Mr Farmer of a baby moose (12 hours old) which I hope you enjoy, Elaine, Carrie also sent me the photo of the bird on the lambs nose which was included in another set of photo's she sent, I will forward these to Mr Farmer too as there are some brilliant and funny shots, just right to brighten up these dull days. Maddi.

No drinking for me tonight - I'll be driving early tomorrow! If anyone is out celebrating tonight, have a safe, but lovely night. So much has happened on the Denbury Farm this year, and on the forum. It's wonderful how we've all come together on this forum. My thanks to everyone who have made it so enjoyable. Also remembering all those we've lost this year - Human and Animal. They have ALL touched our lives in one way or another.
Special thanks to Mr. and Mrs. Farmer and Family for making it all possible.
Goodnight Everyone.
And a VERY HAPPY, HEALTHY AND PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL.

A HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ONE AND ALL with a special message of thanks once again to Mr and Mrs Farmer. Heres to another year packed full of ups and downs with the birds and animals that we all love. Hopefully more ups than downs. Sue. Just seen long distance forcast and think I will be Hybernating in the New Year. My youngest daughter and I are supposed to be going to Blackburn to my sons as we didn't get to see them over Christmas and it is one of my Granddaughters 2nd birthday tomorrow. Weather permitting we are going on Wednesday. It is over a 200 miles round trip.

Elsie, your comment on the couple snogging tickled me. I can remember back in the 60s! as a small child in a chemist shop, with my mum and one of my sisters. There was a young couple kissing they were just not bothered wrapped up in the middle of the chemist, we as kids had never seen such behaviour so were staring. Then my mum said do they want salt and vinegar to the assistant, well i heard this and could not stop giggling it really tickled me. Years passed and i took my brothers Raleigh chopper without him knowing it. It was so much cooler to me than my own bike. I hated that bike of mine! it had a saddle on the back, and no gears, off i used to go for miles on a Sunday afternoon we would cycle miles and miles a mate and me, we loved going to the multistory car parks and ride as fast as we could down the different levels. One Sunday as we were doing so we came across a courting couple in a very heavy kissing session so we were riding past them and annoying them i shouts "DO YOU WANT SOME SALT AND VINAGER MATE" well they gave chase i will never forget it our legs were going like the clappers!! trying to get away how we never came off them the speed we were going is beyond me to this day. Elaine what a fabulous shot of the sheep and the bird, Brilliant. Julia, Bud was beautiful i grew up with 4 GS as a child. I am so down hearing about the Badgers plight please some one take the lead, on the forum and take us into battle!! it cant be me, i would not know how to go about it, i would probably get us all locked up. Fantastic new photos tonight. Julia, what a handsome dog Bud was. We used to have a GSD, I love them. Elaine, that photo of the lamb with the bird is fantastic, where was that taken?
You were lucky to get the Rye cams Elsie, I have not been able to get them for a couple of days. I must tell you that your story of the couple brought back memories of when Don used to walk me home from a dance....although luckily there were no web cams around in those days!!!
Julia, I was thinking exactly the same when I saw Arnie looking over into Lady's stable. Still miss dear old Woody.
With the old year coming to an end tomorrow I would like to wish all the ladies (and Robin)!! and especially Mr. & Mrs. Farmer a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR. I hope 2008 is good for everyone, especially the badgers Mr. Farmer!!!....Pat

Has anybody seen the badgers out tonight, I have just come on and the fox is having a feast by himself, there seems to be quite a bit of food left, as if the badgers have stayed in. Val

Must tell you this. I was watching the Rye Habour cam1 at teatime yesterday. There were loads of people walking their dogs when acouple came along with their dog. They stopped, he gave her a kiss, they moved on and then stopped again. This time they had a snogging session, but, when they finished they turned around and looked straight at the web camera. They must have known it was there and decided to give the viewers a laugh. Can you imagine Pat doing that in our day?. Saw there were a couple of the badgers out earlier on, they seem to be the older ones that feed, maybe the youngsters find it too cold. I wonder what happened to the two new gentlmen who joined the forum, didn't last long did they. Maybe they can't stand cackling women!!. Robin does though, and our Mr Farmers does. Oh well, we can spoil Robin even more now. Elsie

Well, I got the call last night at about 9:20 pm asking me to go to Frome.........just in case!! We arrived there at about 10:40 pm, both boys in bed, so no "entertaining" necessary!! Everything was okay, so we went to bed. I was so tired, but determined to "be there" if necessary!! I heard voices this morning and at about 07:45 am my Brother< Gerry, called me to say that he and Kate were going to the hospital ........ a five minute walk across the park!! (I must say, THAT seems VERY civiised, no panic about ambulances or anything, just a walk across the park!! Having said that, Kate did say that she had a wheelbarrow ready in the garden for my Brother to take her to the hospital, JUST IN CASE!!) Anyway, they returned about an hour and a half later to say that all was okay. Birth not iminent just yet!! My younger Nephew, Shay, woke in a panic, realising that Mum and Dad were both absent, but a bit of a cuddle and some reassuring words soon cheered Him up! Oh, that and building a "Fuzzy Felt" "Monster Truck"!
So, Ladies and Gents, nothing yet.................but who knows what the evening might bring!!

Thanks for enquiring about Penny Elaine. The vet seems fairly certain I think that it may be a thyroid problem although she has taken some samples of her fur to put under a microscope to see if there is anything nasty lurking. She is going to ring me tomorrow to let me know and we will probably have to take her to the Vet Hospital for a blood test. HERE WE GO AGAIN!! but at least I don't think it is anything serious this time, fingers crossed.....Pat

Good morning all.Just been watching the Lady, Willow and Arnie in their stables. Lady was doing her usual head swinging, don't think she likes being in the stable. Robin, are you a friend of Ricky Tomlinson by any chance, you certainly have the same sense of humour as him. Typical Scousers with their great sense of humour. I am pleased you were with family for Christmas Day and I am sure you are not as bad as you make yourself out to be. Yes Pat it was my photo of the robin is mine. It was surprising how long it sat there while I took a photo. I have tried many times to take photos of the birds in the garden but they always fly off, saying that Max usually follows me and he does chase them. He does not like any other creature in his garden. Well the sun has come out here but don't think it will last long. I can't wait for the Spring when I can potter about in the garden. Next month I will be sowing seeds and set them off in the house. I only have a cold greenhouse so When the weather gets warmer I put my seedings in it. Noticed the crocuses ar coming through now. Must go, speak later. Elsie
