Aw Jill, I could have cried for your Dad when i read your post its got to be one of the most upsetting things of bieng old and going in a care home i am dreading that situation, its not something i look forward to. Its when you said he was the new boy bless him Jill, and the parting of his belongings now that is hard to do, i am sure he will settle soon and be happy i hope so then its a weight off your mind too. I hope they have bird feeders there to keep him cheered up a bit he will soon mix in i am sure. Its pouring down here it waited till i put my washing out of course well it can stay there till i say lol i am in one of those moods quiet but quite dangerous i think i am tired lol. I have done most of my jobs today i have lifted some Lillie bulbs and i am changing the soil. I have killed a few Lillie bugs too a about 6 in all i detest them they are the most beautiful of reds but deadly to me blooms. Karen Stoke

Morning everyone - Im glad it looks like is stopped raining at Denbury! Poor Mr. Farmer I hope you can manage to salvage some of that wet hay! The swans are gliding by on Cam2 as well as a few ducks and other birds I cant quite make out. Looks very calm there now!
Just off to visit my dad who has moved to a new 24-hr care home - downsized from a 2-bed flat with 2-bath and kitchen, down to one single room! A very big upheaval and a bit upsetting having to dispose of things he's had around him all his life. Family pieces I've seen from my childhood ...I've been able to take a few things but don't have room for any of the furniture except an antique chest of drawers - I hope it fits in the back of my sisters car! The care home are having a residents' family bbq today so a good opportunity to meet other folk and the staff there. And hoping dad is settling in - he's only been thre since last Wed so feels a bit like a new boy at school still!
ttfn - have a great Saturday everyone....Jill(E)

Morning, Elaine, I didn't think it was a spider/web on camera, because the pole looked like it was in front of it, Lorna I'm glad I'm not the only one to be puzzled by it.

I have been reading some blogs from here and the Osprey site, keeping the field cam on, and I have just noticed the fuzz ball is gone!! What on earth was it. I notice Jan (Herts) also asked what it was. Its not there now, and I didnt see any movement!! Spooky!!!! Lorna from Devon

A fox was at the Badger feeding station just now, but I am fasinated by the Hatchery cam. It looks as if the "spooky" tree has spawned a fuzzy ball to one side of the post!!!! It must be a bit of muck on the web cam lens, unless it`s a huge camouflage hide for spotting the deer!!!!!!!
Just had a huge firefly go past the cam, unless it was a moth, but it was very bright.
It`s been a really dreadful day weather wise here in Devon. It has given me the chance to do some chores and get ready for the Horticultural Show tomorrow.
That fuzz ball is still there. Anyone else see it? Well it isnt anything to do with a spider web, as something small just crawled past the lens.
I have zoomed in and still cannot make out what it is. I havent noticed it there before.
Age has a lot to do with most things, but I dont think this is one of them.!! Lorna from Devon

jan think you will find it is a spider or a cobweb. elaine
10:03 Fri 20 Aug 10
Can anyone explain what the 'ball' or object is on the valley cam? it appears to be behind the post next to the tree, is it a spider on the lens or something in the field? or am I final losing the plot!!

Jill you lucky devil catching sight of the Buzzard i love them so much they delight me. Can you remember when Mr, Farmer threw some goodies for them in the Valley, last year i think? it was, and we had the most splendid displays from one feeding and bieng pecked at by other birds, it was wonderful viewing that was, i was enthralled i never moved.
Elsie, so sorry to hear about your cellulitis it sounds so painful take care your in my thoughts xx.

Well its vile here today we've had loads of rain last night and again today i am so sick of it my tomatoes, and stuff in the greenhouse needs some Sun!! i demand you come out. Hopefully we will have a mild Winter is that possible here lol. Its flown by this year has and i have not done what i wanted in the garden but hope to catch up some more when the weather permits me to dam it. I feel so sorry for Mr Farmer with the hay situation good luck with it as i think you will need it. On the news the other day they mentioned how short farmers were due to the weather and were having to buy it elsewhere its just not fair is it. With a bit of luck all this rain will make my grapes swell at least!. I looked in on the lake this morning and i couldn't at first make out what i was seeing, it was two of the Swan, swimming together but they had there necks under their wings so at first it looked like a body to me lol then a raft then a drum i was so relieved when they put there heads back up and separated. Elsie, so pleased you have got the help, and will be getting a stairlift. Take care with your legs.
What a wet and windy day it is. At Denbury Farm, the lake is very wind blown. Saw a family of ducks earlier on, by the Kingfisher branch.Even the emu`s have disappeared for a while, cant blame them this weather. The sun is trying to stay out up at Loch of the Lowes, and the Squirrel cam is on with all the birds, and squirel being very active today. A spider was being blown about on the nest cam. Elsie,SO sorry to hear about your leg. My hubby had cellulitis a couple of years ago and it's nasty. You must keep your legs elevated as much as possible, the antibiotics will kick in but as you say it does take time. Pleased to hear the aids and adaptation people came through o.k.
Despite the bad forecast we have a sunny day at the moment, no doubt it won't last.... winter will soon be upon us ladies!

Morning all - gosh I've been busy at work already - you can tell its Friday! Good to hear form you Elsie and I hope that cellulitis clears up soon - my mum had it once and I can sympathize!
I did post something early this morning - well just before 8.00 - as I saw a beautiful buzzard perched on the post in the valley - my message must have got lost in the wet hay I expect! Or did I forget to sign it again? No matter - just wanted to thank Mr.Farmer for that shot - it made my morning!...Jill(E)

Good Morning all--Elsie i am sorry to hear you have Cellulitis--I had that about 6 yrs ago and the district nurse was coming in every day to dress it// it seemed an age for it to clear//so i do sympathise with you and hope it clears quickly for you its good that you are on line again//Our weather has turned from bad to awful in the last 2 days and wonder when its going to get better i have noticed how cold it feels--i do hope Mr Farmer gets some of his hay in-i to wonder how the Ospreys make that journey every year/I am put to shame when we go down to Cornwall to see sister in law;I am such a whimp--elsie ask your GP or Surgery Nurse if you can have some leg covers-they are like a big plastic bag/I used white bin liners then taped round the top-they keep your leg dry-i must go and make some cards ready for Christmas/so as they say keep your pecker up Elsie-Barbara in South Staffs

Thanks Mary, everything went very well last week, had toilet and shower aids sent out the next day, also I am going to get a stairlift but it does take time with those. Afraid this time I have a really bad case of Cellulitis which the GP says will take six weeks to clear, not a nice complaint to have. I felt so sorry for Mr Farmer last night when I saw all that rain falling on his hay, you can't win can you. Nice to see the Badgers out in force now in stead of the odd one or two. Seems like we won't be seeing the Ospreys again until next year, they really are missed when they migrate, always makes me wonder how they ever endure that long journey. The wonders of nature as we all know. Elsie

I have just checked the Gallery out Simon those you took of the Buzzard thank you so much superb! i have tried for years to get one of a buzzard on my digital camera lol i have failed to get close enough even mimicking toulouse lautrec along hedgerows the slightest movement, they have you in their sights. I think they are a fabulous, Bird a personal favourite of mine, i love how its beak is open squawking so thank you again Simon. Did you see on the News about the RAT who has been imprisoned for stealing those falcon eggs he wants publicly Flogging!! id gladly do it and whats he get two and a half years its a disgrace it really is, i hope he falls and breaks his neck the next time as he will certainly do it again i bet you. I can remember my dad catching me stealing eggs with the boys as a kid oh i got a good hiding and a lecture i can tell you and i listened to his wise words i have never been so ashamed in all my life as he reached up in the tree and pulled me down by the scruff off my neck on my jumper at the back none of us had seen him coming i was only about 7 i knew no different i am so ashamed to this day but i doubt that egg thief is. I do hope they put him in a cell with a bird lover that would be justice for me. Karen Stoke
