Like everyone else I am devastated by the Osprey news. I did post earlier but it seems it maybe got lost in the machine! I noticed there was a problem very early this morning but hoped I was wrong, I can't bear to watch anymore to see Mabel struggling, I know it's nature, but I hate the thought of her suffering.
On a lighter note, the owlets have just brought a smile to my face, I logged in and saw them huddled together, sprawled out and looking very still! I was a bit anxious for a moment, then one suddenly got up, staggered like a drunk then fell on it's face! I know you shouldn't laugh, but it was so funny to watch. It had obviously been in a deep sleep and hadn't got it's 'sea legs'. In view of all the sadness with poor Mabel, I needed that moment of comedy.

At 2.30pm we had a power cut at Denbury Farm, although the power came back immediately it caused one of our computer to fail. Webcams 3 and the hatching webcam will be off until repair next week.

I must stop looking at the Osprey cam, it is just so sad to watch, and I hope if we are going to lose her that she doesn't linger too long. Everyone at The Loch of the Lowes must be devastated, but think of the joy and the pleasuer that Mabel has brought over the years. Elsie

Dads Feeding the chicks now. One of the chicks was pecking at the fish its self bless so maybe Mabel hung on until they were nearly ready to fend for them selves. I am so thankful they are leaving the cams on even though its quite distressing now i have got over the shock. Its so heartwarming she came home to die and at least we know what happened to her. Mabel i have watched you since 2007 thank you, you will be so missed you Special Lady xx xx. Karen Stoke

Oh i just cant believe it Poor Mabel i am breaking my heart here, like a dam child i feel, i am so upset!. I looked in at them the early hours this morning before 4 as it was light here i think she was poorly then thinking back as whilst i was watching them Mabel was sprawled on the nest and the chicks huddles to her i remember smiling thinking yes your to big to get under Mum
now, never in my wildest did i think anything was wrong, i did see one of the chicks peck at her as if nudging to say i am hungry come on. Mabel did lift her head and then it went down quick i honestly thought she was saying to it hang on i want five more Min's sleep. The chick walked around the nest had a poo and seemed to settle that was at 04:05 dead on i remember looking at the time. With bieng tired myself i never clicked i really didn't. I am so distraught i must go now i cant see for tears Oh my dear dear Mabel. Karen Stoke

Since I logged on to the osprey blog this morning I haven't dared look at the cam. Like the rest of you I have been in tears. I'm so relieved that "Mac" is feeding his babies and hope and pray that he continues to do so. Mabel, God bless you. You have given me so much pleasure.

Someone posted on the blog they're going to call the chicks Faith and Hope from now on, I think thats a wonderful idea, to carry on her legacy.

I looked in around 3am this morning, and knew something wasn't right, but was still too dark to make much out, wasn't till this morning when I looked again and saw the blog, such a sad day, but as been echoed by many fitting she should end her days in Scotland on her beloved nest.

Have just logged on and cannot believe what i am reading. I/we, Sue and I have watched Mabel ever since we found this sight. She is a beauty to behold, even now as she laid in her home, the posts on the lochs blog are the same as here, everyine hoping and praying she makes it. So many are also saying that it is fitting that if the worst should happen it should be here where she has made her home and loved by so many over the years.
The male has risen to the challege and is feeding his offspring!
I have tears streaming down my face as i write this. Mr Famer can I please say thankyou for allowing us to be a part of Mabels life. Elaine

So upsetting to witness the scene at the Lowes - Poor Mable so sick and can hardly hold her head up - Ten out of Ten for Mac though bringing in a fish and feeding the chicks - lets hope he's learned enough from her to be able to carry on feeding them if the worst comes to the worst - very sad but at least she made it back to her beloved Scotland and will have a peaceful end overlooking the loch with her family around her. Poor Mabel. I know she's old but you hope she'll keep going don't you? I've just seen her move her head. I feel they should intervene, especially as these two chicks may be her last. I'm in tears. Sue, Middlesex

Is there something wrong with Mabel this morning, you don't see her laying down like the way she is now. Hope she is just keeping out of the wind. Elsie

Margaret, best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hello Barbara, I like the Rye cams too but they aren't on very often at all any more.

Karen, I hate those pains as well. And I know exactly how despairing they make you feel. Don't give in to them for as long as you can, that's my motto. I have plenty of Magpies here, would you like some? They love monkey nuts, as do the Jays.

Rosie's Mum, you are a star for helping that little cat. Sue, Middlesex

Eight Badgers eating together tonight, and there seemed to be a strange one came near but didn't join them. Saw the Cock Pheasant havin a feed as well, beautiful bird. I have only noticed that in our garden there have been no magpies for a long while, for a fews years now, one used to put his bread in the bird bath to soak. At present we have lovely young Blackbird coming in, and its parents are always knocking around. How big the Peregrine chicks are now, can't tell much difference between them and the parents, also the Psprey chicks are growing very fast. I hvae no news from Robin to pass on. he must be poorly, or else his computer is on the blink again. When I do hear from him I will let you all know. Elsie

Hi Barbara,
and welcome if this is your first time on the forum. I too noticed we seem to have lost the Rye cams, perhaps Mr Farmer will put us wise?
Rosies mum,
seems you would make a good cat catcher! Wish you'd have a go at the ones who litter in my garden and sit on the shed roof and 'spray' onto our car!! We're really fed up with getting up to yellow stains down the back window of our car!!
Checked in on the owls a while ago, there were three fluffy lumps asleep and mum was in the barn having a bit of peace and quiet. I know how she feels, we've got the grandchildren overnight tonight, so I won't get much peace and quiet, but they are a joy(in small doses!)
