Guess Karen Stoke is still up and watching. Glad to know you will be seeing better soon Elsie. Rosie's Mum in Toronto

Elsie, What wonderful news for you, I know you are really looking forward to being able to see properly again, your postings are really missed on here. But giving the condition of your eyes that is understandable. Cant wait for you to post regularly again, you are the sense of the forum. I also agree with you, Vicky and Karen Stoke please sign your postings and dont put anon as someone did earlier.
I am sorry to read about the owlet, but also pleased the the BOT are going down to check on the other two. Elaine

Sorry I meant Elsie having the cataract op haha perhaps I need stronger glasses - the name was obscured slightly by the decoration on the blog!...Jill

Yes I was sad to read on the BOT diary of the death of the littlest owl probably due to starvation. Still, we were spared the horrendous sight of an act of cannibalism which if I remember correctly occured a couple of years ago - it might have been the Czec owls if I recall. But as they say the remaining two owlets are thriving and seem to be getting plenty of food so they will survive and fledge as healthy young birds.

We've just had a downpour and thunder and lighting! Luckily I caught the early bus home otherwise I would have been soaked walking from the bus stop! We did need the rain but its still hot and muggy here.

I've heard from my friend at Dungeness and she tells me that three Purple Heron chicks have been heard and little heads seen bobbing about above the reeds so hopefully will get to see them fledge sucessfully - the first breeding pair in the UK! Also the white-tailed lapwing is still around - he must like the climate of Kent!

Elaine good luck with your cataract op - my dad had his second eye done last week - I'm sure you will feel so much better when you can see the cams clearly!

Vicky are you at Denbury at the moment? If so I hope you can take some more of your lovely photos! I'll get the badger cam up now and see if I can catch you feeding them.

Karen I hope your headache goes away soon - I get migraines so can sympathise - sleep is good so try and get some of that!..... ttfn .... Jill

Sad news about the Owlet, but, like in humans it does happen. None of us like it but we can't change it. I have been watching a bird in the garden for a while and thought it was a Dunnock, anyway today I had a really close up of it and I was right as it is a Dunnock. First time I have ver seen them around here. Why do people put comments on the forum and not say who they are, we are all friends on here so it be nice if you would put a name to your comments. I hope this rain is finished now, and that we are not going have another wet Summer. It has been really cold here today. Abit of good news for the ones who know me, I have my second Cataract removed next Wednesday. I wll be able to get glasses then for using for the computer, you may get sick of hearing from me ha ha. Latest from the bot.
22nd, 2pm - as it has become apparent that the youngest owlet starved to death, we again welcome any observations of prey deliveries by the adults. If you can let us know what time you notice prey being delivered, that would be extremely helpful. We will also visit the site to check on the condition of the two remaining owlets.

such sad news about the owlet but that is nature and we have to accept it. I do hope that the adults will continue to feed the other two. We have a lovely warm and sunny day so I hope that mabel and the chicks are enjoying it. Val Perth
