I have tomorrow planned, in catching a pigeon and hope it works. It is on our bedroom balcony (12 floors up) and there is a divider between the next apartment and ours with a gap underneath. I noticed it two days in a row and realized it has hurt a wing and can't fly. I called the Wildlife group and they will look after it if I can catch it. I have put some seed and water out for it but before I can get it it goes under the divider onto the next balcony. The neighbour is a bit crazy and I am afraid that if I ask him to shoo it our way, he likely will send it off the balcony. I have partially cover over the gap and hope that when it comes over for its meal, that I can quickly cover the rest of the gap so that it is now in our half. After that it shouldn't be too hard to catch it. Usually throwing something over their head stops them and then just a matter of lifting it up and putting it into a box. Keep your fingers (and toes) crossed for me so that I be able to catch it. If anyone sees my antics, they will think I have lost my marbles. Unfortunately feed it attracts all the other local pigeons. Rosie's Mum in Toronto

hi ruth. It was my friend Alison who put the clip on youtube. Rinchen was the cameraman in the centre. I swear she did a fly past. :-D. One of the owlets has arrived back and after going inside for a few minutes is now on the tray outside waiting for grub. Ann.

There is a video on u tube of the Lady leaving yesterday, soon after 10am. Shows her landing on the nest calling then taking off with the camera following her.

Hello Everyone. I've just been looking at the little swallows. I was sure that they would have fledged by now, but there they are, so big now that it is a constant struggle to stay in the nest! I think there are still four there. So glad the owlets are OK - it's all so stressful, when one can do nothing to help in any way. Am trying to come to terms with the fact that 'our' Mabel has set off from Loch of the Lowes for that terribly long journey. Let's hope that all our loving thoughts and prayers, which I am sure contributed to her miraculous recovery back in June, will carry her safely all the way back to West Africa. I have read, that is possible she might even fly over Devon and Cornwall, so shall keep my eyes peeled from tomorrow, just in case. Rosemary (Plymouth)

One of the Osprey are on the nest at the moment tucking into a big fish, isn't it amazing how quickly they grow up. They zoomed in to a good close up of its foot and leg it was amazing as you could see the power in the muscles in its foot around the ankle and the big talons, for gripping the fish. When i see the Ospreys thighs, i am sure they would be called something else lol, i always get the urge to squeeze them like you would a baby's bum such power they have in them legs. (i am always squeezing our Freds lol he hates it and tells me baring his teeth lol.
It seems Our Mabel, has started her migration journey, oh my power of thought is with her i am actually flying at times for her i keep saying come on girl take it steady, i refuse to write her off, she really gave us all some nail biting moments this season... She has been a big part of our lives has dear old Mabel, it made me ill, when she fell ill, i have never been like that over anything since i was a kid, to me she is just wonderful i could cry thinking about her. I hope she returns next year but i know its asking an awful lot. I will be beside myself if she does, nothing would surprise me more. Thank you Mabel, i will never forget you ever! i am blumming crying now put it down to my age lol. Karen Stoke

Jill, I was looking in at the Osprey Blog and had the Owlets on screen at the same time, when I saw her struggle to get up. She was a bit wobbly to start with, but now seems to be ok. Honestly, these animals do cause us concerns sometimes, don`t they. On Denbury Farm site, saw the 2 black swans this morning, feeding almost side by side, then when one got a bit too close, she (presumably it was the Pen) was seen off. Also saw a person under a brolley fishing this morning. Love the new Gallery. Lorna from Devon

Lorna, Devon - I too was concerned when I saw the owlet lying on its back in the nest box but just now I saw it move and shake its head so I guess its just full up and hot and tired and having a rest! Let's hope its ok anyway .... Jill

Thanks for the update Vicky - some beautiful new pics on the gallery - Did I read that the new gallery is capable of holding up to 50 pics? If so will you just keep adding more on until you reach 50 and then start deleting from the beginning? That would be great so we have more opportunities to view them as I love to look back and view the slideshow...Jill

Hi, Lorna from Devon here. My Sister just rang to say one of the Owlets was laying down in the nest box. I had a look, and have got in touch with the Barn Owl Trust. I couldn`t see any sign of it breathing. Just hope it is just resting! Lorna from Devon

Welcome to the forum, sorry you won't be able to access the Butterfly Farm, it hasn't been 'live' for some time now, mores the pity. There are usually enough cameras working to keep you busy though.

both owl chicks back. One went straight to the back of the barn the other landed on the tray with a mouse!! Would it have caught it or would it have met an adult off camera and got it that way?

evening all. My second post here. I've seen one food delivery at the owl tray. Only one owl chick was there to receive it. It quickly swallowed it and flew off. Both of the chicks returned briefly but they've obviously got things to do outside the barn. I'm also wondering if we have seen the last me Marge at loch of the Lowes. She's not been seen since 10.20 this morning. Gosh what a season she's had. When i was looking at her yesterday she looked awesome with a chubby breast again. Lovely to see her with weight back on her. Ann, Edinburgh.

No owlets on nestcam or barncam so I think they are exploring the great outdoors, I will be so sorry to see them go but it is all part of nature. I missed the black cat on the cam but it was nice to see it on the gallery,so good to have that back again. It is also good to welcome newcomers to the forum. I am also going to be sad to see Mabel, Mac and the chicks leaving for Africa but as I say it is all part of nature and I do hope that we will see Mabel and Mac back again next year. I would also like to say a big thank you to Mr Farmer for all his hard work that enables us to watch all these wonderful events over the summer months, and throughout the year and I do hope that the two black swans will become "good friends" I am now patiently waiting in the hope that I will see the deer tonight Val Perth

Thankyou Mr. Farmer for a very informative diary - shame about the black swans - you've tried really hard to get them established so it would be a shame if it came to nothing. Lets hope the remaining Cob will accept the new Pen and at least be friends and maybe they will produce cygnets next year.
The deer in the valley last night were amazing yes! The stags with their large antlers were very imposing. Lindsay I'll look out for the pic of the Peppered Moth - they are very pretty to see. I'm sure you'll get a lot of different species in your Trap in the morning!...Jill
