That is why I like this forum it can be controlled.I too am glad we have it back as it was.
Didn't do very well the other night with the Moths as the clouds cleared, Jill.We had 17 species. It is tailing off now I am afraid. That night the temperature dropped to 6 degrees. There will be some interesting photos when I have time to sit down and sort them out.Lindsay.

Elsie did you see the original comment? I think its been removed now but thanks for your concern - I wasn't upset I just wanted everyone to know it wasn't me that was posting on Twitter - Mr. Farmer got on the case straight away and reassured me so as far as I'm concerned the matter is closed.

Lovely picture of 5/6 badgers out feeding tonight - I love their colours before the night lights come on, their black stripey faces really show up well.

Bec yes I've noticed a few leaves falling and also the elderberry tree out back is dripping with bunches of berries already - a source of competition between the blackbirds and wood pigeons who crash about in the branches getting their fill of the sweet berries. Unfortunately its too far away for me to gather any berries but from experience a couple of handfulls are scrumptious cooked with a blackberry and apple pie! There's another idea for you Elaine! You can then freeze the pies for eating in the winter for a taste of summer!...Jill(E)

Has anyone else noticed that some of the trees are starting to change their colours already? I've noticed quite a few now, it seems Autumn is starting early. Bec

Hi Elaine,I put the blackberries in plastic sealable bags and freeze them,I collect so many I have a small table top freezer in the shed as for the apples I wrap them in newspaper and put them in wooden or plastic breathable trays and put them in the garage, not in the sunlight,I used to store them in the shed but the mice were eating them and using the paper for nests. In the winter I make seed cake for the birds and include the fruit I have stored, the birds and squirrels appreciate this in the winter.Wendy,West Yorks.

JillE don't get upset about that comment, leave it to Mr Farmer and he will sort it out. It is Sooooooooooooooo good to have our forum back again. Up to now I haven't seen the 2 swans, hope they are together now. This afternoon I counted 15 ducks on the lake, what a difference to last year. If I am not on here as often don't worry as it will be because I am finding the stairs very hard work. Harold is talking about getting me a Laptop, unless when I go to Ocupational Therapy on Wednesday they may let me have a stairlift, keep all of your fingers crossed for me, cross everything if you like ha ha.Take care everyone. Elsie

Wendy west yorks lucky you having your pc back up and running!!! Wish mine was maybe tomorrow, can't say i really like laptops. What do you do with the blackberries and apples you collect? Do you freeze them for later in the year?
Reading Jill E post and Mr Farmers it seems someone is determined to upset the forum and members by posting using someone eles's name. Such a shame really because we will ignore what is posted and if we haven't sent it we will contact Mr Farmer personally and tell him as JIll must have done. A similar thing happened a couple of years ago to Sue and I.
Anyway all seems quiet on the cams at the moment. Mr Farmer is there any chance of seeing some of the bird feeders in the near future? Sorry to be a pain and ask for something I do realise that you are a very busy man. Elaine

Hello everybody,my computer is up and running again, just come back from seeing my family in cornwall and am now catching up with everything,I love the new look gallery, when I get my e.mail running again I will send some photo's in.Now is the time to collect blackberries and apples for the birds for winter,I mentioned it months ago,I've started picking blackberries already.I feed the birds every day but at the moment it's very quiet,I think the birds are in the fields and eating the fruit that is on the trees at the moment.Saw a fox on the webcam last night and 3 badgers.Talking about bees,I am growing lavender to make a hedge the bees love it.Wendy,West Yorks.

Thanks Mr.F - I think I know too but didnt want to say on open forum. I must say your new beehive looks very posh! Looking forward to some shots of your bees buzzing about in and out - and Karen I hope you get that hive soon! I'm wondering if there's a "season" for bees? Do they overwinter or hibernate in their hives? Good luck with it!...Jill(E)

Jill i have never been so certain of something before i have mulled this idea of a hive for many years and reading Mr Farmers Diary has give me the kick up the bum i needed i am definitely doing it i have asked my sister to have a word with a beekeeper in her road to see if by any chance he has a spare hive for sale at a reasonable price so i might be in luck you never know he might have one if not i will get one else where. No Valley cam tonight?

Mary it could have been Buster, one of last years cubs. He always did that and would move anything in his way as long as he got the food. Elsie
